Simplify and automate B2B e-commerce with DJUST

SPHERE, a French family-owned group founded in 1976 and a European leader in household packaging, is committed to producing bio-based and compostable resins for sustainable packaging solutions.

As part of its digital transformation, the group launched the PUBLI EMBAL e-commerce platform, the first in a series of online stores designed to cover all of the group's professional entities. This site allows customers to access the entire product range, order 24/7, and manage their personalized products independently. This initiative marks the beginning of a broader rollout aimed at strengthening customer service and supporting the group's growth.

Faced with sustained growth and the increasing complexity of its catalog, SPHERE Distribution chose to focus on a strategy of sales digitalization and tool modernization.

The challenges faced

1. Simplify current processes through automation

One of the key challenges for SPHERE Distribution was to optimize operational workflows, particularly in customer service:

  • Offload manual tasks: manual order entry and sending quotes to customers.
  • Maintain an up-to-date catalog (previously physical only)
  • Offer a catalog tailored to each customer
  • Provide products at the right price with a multitude of offers

Process automation became essential to gain operational efficiency and allow the sales administration teams to focus on higher value-added tasks.

2. Provide a flexible platform to meet the needs of each Business Unit (BU)

Manual operations were no longer viable in the long term. With increasing order volumes, managing the data chain (catalogs, customers) was becoming increasingly complex.

SPHERE needed to digitize its processes to turn this management into a growth lever, particularly through cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.

3. Preparing a scalable platform for EMEA deployment

Beyond the initial project, SPHERE’s ambition was clear: to have a solution capable of supporting the Group’s European rollout in Belgium, England, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands for the professional market. The company was looking for scalable and modular infrastructure to quickly integrate new business units, such as Point E, and prepare for expansion across the EMEA region.

“Our work focused on two main areas: first, integrating SDI pricing and defining the scope of work to ensure that pricing information is only accessible to the relevant people. The second part involved order entry, which consists of integrating them into JDE so they can be processed by the Sales Administration team. Collaboration with the Point E and SDI teams was crucial and went very smoothly.”
Yann Buffetaud, JDE Project Manager.

Solutions provided by DJUST

DJUST offers a flexible and scalable B2B e-commerce platform that allows SPHERE to automate its processes, simplify catalog and pricing management, and prepare for the onboarding of new business units as well as international deployment.

Key features

Front-end / Customer experience

  • Advanced search bar allowing customers to quickly find and order products.
  • Ordering via Excel file import, for bulk orders in just a few clicks.
  • Product variant tables: number of units per package, pallets, price per package, etc., to facilitate purchasing planning.
  • Comprehensive product pages with high-resolution, downloadable images.
  • Clear display of labels/certifications directly on the product page to provide reassurance and assist with selection.

Order export & analysis

Export orders directly from the platform for easy tracking and monitoring of key KPIs.

  • In-depth data analysis: identifying order recurrence, detecting top customer accounts, and pinpointing the most purchased products.
  • Ability to implement targeted marketing actions: re-engaging inactive customer accounts after a first order, and adapting offers and promotions based on purchasing behavior.

Pricing & segmentation

  • Management of personalized and complex pricing based on customer type (group, professional account, public).

Scalability & process automation

  • Automation of catalog management and ERP-to-platform data transfers.
  • Simplified sales administration (ADV) processes to limit manual intervention (automatic order import into the ERP, automatic updates of order logistics statuses).
  • Infrastructure designed to accommodate other business units and support geographical expansion (EMEA).
"The project involved numerous challenges to provide users with features that meet their daily needs, such as quick order entry via XLS file import, the ability to create favorite lists, access to product photos and technical data sheets, or the quote request process, which is fully integrated into the tool (from the initial request to the final order if the quote is approved by the customer)... These are all features that ensure an excellent user experience. We paid particular attention to the ergonomics and the site's business-oriented structure, which is the result of close collaboration and high-quality exchanges between the technical, sales, and marketing teams. We will develop this platform for all the group's professional entities in the future."
Olivier Guy, Sales and Marketing Director, SDI

Results & impact

Thanks to DJUST, SPHERE has achieved concrete gains in several areas:

"The professional market has specificities and presents major challenges for an e-commerce platform, particularly regarding pricing. Each customer has their own pricing, but did not necessarily have access to the entire product range. The platform was also an opportunity to provide all customers with access to the full offering, with associated pricing. Integrating this price architecture required significant collaborative work between the digital, sales, and JDE teams to create a functional platform."
Martin Gauriau, Digital Project Manager, SPHERE Distribution.

  • The platform becomes a competitive asset in B2B relationships: increased responsiveness, professionalism, and the ability to handle complex requests.
  • Greater visibility into product and business unit performance, facilitating strategic decision-making regarding pricing, assortment, and sourcing.

Sphère thus confirms its position as a committed and innovative player, capable of combining growth with sustainability.
